Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide Controls database, graphics, programming, etc., for sequences as provided via the AES Standard Station, project specifications, or other applicable sources.  
  • Program Tridium, Honeywell, ABB, Distech, JCI, or Alerton controls.
  • Provide accurate controls for start-up and commissioning, including point-to-point checkout on projects as assigned.  Verify correct alarm, annunciation, and other actions by equipment, devices, panels, and annunciators of controls projects.
  • Support installation personnel on project sites.
  • Provide information and support for other contractors on the project site.
  • Debug installation issues during static and dynamic start-up and commissioning of building controls.
  • Provide support to AES, Inc. and other contractors to solve building operating issues beyond the controls or unique systems operation.  
  • Provide input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start-up, commissioning, and training for building systems.  
  • Provide start-up documentation, including daily logs, checkout logs, commissioning documents, etc., as required for assigned projects.
  • Ensure timely software backups are created for projects and software development.
  • Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building occupancy codes.  
  • Provide service support on existing systems, ensuring their proper and efficient operation, and providing ongoing support to the facility’s building engineers.
  • Complete timesheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position accurately and promptly.
  • Assist in preparing submittal documents, as-built drawings, and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Assist in turnover of projects from Operations Team to Service Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of high school diploma.
  • Level II & Senior BAS Programmers need to have the ability to work independently with little to no supervision.  
  • Two-year technical degree in HVAC or Electronics related studies preferred.  An undergraduate degree in Electrical or Mechanical related studies is excellent.
  • Other technical experience, such as military, on-the-job training programs, etc., may meet this requirement determined by local management.

Experience and expertise including but not limited to:

  • An understanding of computer operating systems, including MS Office Suite of projects.
  • Knowledge in one or all of the following – Tridium, Honeywell Spyder, Alerton, Johnson FX, and ABB.
  • An understanding of ACAD or similar program/software.
  • The ability to configure and debug computer and networking problems.
  • Experience with programming.
  • A clear ability to work with electronic equipment such as voltmeters, amp meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • The ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry, including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
  • A working understanding of AC power circuitry, including breakers, multi-phase power, etc. (120VAC and greater).
  • Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • An ability to understand empathetically the issues and perceptions others have and to creatively and successfully work through these issues to achieve a successful outcome and customer and employee satisfaction.  
  • A thorough understanding of HVAC operations within a facility if working in the controls field.
  • Level II and Senior BAS Programmers deeply understand HVAC Systems and how they are properly controlled.

Essential Functions:

  • Can lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, material, etc.
  • Be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
  • Be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record that allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
  • Be physically able to kneel, stoop, and crawl.

Level Descriptions:

  • Level I – Must be able to achieve many objectives of this position.  Requires some amount of timely supervision to ensure the proper tasks are being accomplished and that communication is adequate, timely, and correct (i.e., verbal, written, email, etc.).
  • Level II – Consistency achieves all the objectives of this position.  This individual also provides mentoring and direct day-to-day supervision to level 1 positions. 
  • Senior – Highly experienced in the position.  Advanced awareness of the technical needs of controls system programming, integrations to other systems, and very sophisticated HVAC strategies if working in the control field.

The purpose of your role as a BAS / Controls Installer:

As Controls Installer you will assemble, plan, route, install, and repair wiring and other electrical components and equipment necessary to install engineered control and building automation systems.

Low Voltage Wiring Installation Responsibilities:

  • Plan layout and installation of low voltage wiring and equipment based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Connect wires to low voltage components as needed for a complete operational system.
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring or equipment using testing devices, such as ohmmeters or voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.  
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as ammeters.
  • Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install maintain or repair low voltage wiring or equipment.

Responsible for personal and team safety on jobs.

  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain low voltage electrical or electronic wiring or equipment using hand tools or power tools.  

What we are looking for in you:

  • Prior experience and/or training in commercial low voltage cabling installation.
  • Prior experience testing equipment including multi-meters and digital analyzers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operation/product manuals.

Additional abilities you will learn:

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems:  what they do and how they operate.
  • Basic understanding of Programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, and automation controls.
  • Basic understanding of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems including various components and processes.

We are seeking to hire a HVAC or building controls Project Executive (Sales) to join our team!  You will be responsible for overseeing and developing a sales team to drive company revenue for our building automation business.  We are looking for an individual with a solid technical background in commercial HVAC and extensive sales experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, expand, and maintain relationships with Building Owners, Facility Managers, Property Managers, and your initial AES, Inc. team executing opportunities and solutions.
  • Develop the trust of existing and potential customers.  Provide technical advice and layout projects to meet customer challenges and budgets for their building needs.
  • Target owners and end-users outside the current AES, Inc. customer base.
  • Focus on maintaining, developing, and converting existing/new accounts to Technical Service Agreement accounts.
  • Prospect and qualify for new sales opportunities.
  • Maintain and work on a sales plan to hit annual goals.
  • Create and deliver sales presentations for project interviews, new technology releases, etc.
  • Maintain involvement in projects after closing the sale, including kick-offs with operations and follow-up with the client.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related studies; or equivalent work experience.
  • Commercial HVAC and building controls experience preferred.
  • Three years of related experience in sales, construction, or technology.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems, including the MS Office suite of projects.
  • Passion for continuously developing and improving selling skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Familiarity with CRM Platforms.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients.
